Overview of Religion

The study of Religion at UTSC is reflective of the cultural diversity that exists on this campus and increasingly all over the world. Religion plays a key role in the daily lives of people and has become a major factor in global affairs. In order to understand ourselves better as well as keep up with cultural and political activities in our multicultural society, the study of Religion serves as a lens through which the world can be examined.

The religion courses at UTSC are designed to provide students with a basic understanding of the major religious traditions of the world, as well as provide them with an opportunity to study the sacred texts of Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Buddhism and Hinduism. The minor program in religion allows students to combine courses that focus on religious themes from a number of related disciplines, such as history, philosophy, and visual and performing arts.
