Research Centres New England Regional Primate Research Center http://www.hms.harvard.edu/nerprc/ This center uses primates for basic and applied biomedical research, particularly AIDS, cancer and drug addiction. Regional Primate Research Center at the University of Washington http://depts.washington.edu/compmed/compmed/facilities3e.html This center uses macaques for research on neurological, endocrinology and a host of other things. Yerkes Regional Primate Research Center http://www.emory.edu/WHSC/YERKES/ This center uses primates (mostly rhesus monkeys) for research, particularly Parkinsons disease and drug addiction, but it does confront the issues of using primates as subjects of biomedical research. Wisconsin Regional Primate Research Center WRPRC uses rhesus monkeys and marmosets for research. This center supports the Primate Info Net (see separate listing above). California National Primate Research Center http://www.cnprc.ucdavis.edu/index.html Rhesus monkeys Duke Lemur Center Deutsches Primatenzentrum (DPZ) This research center in Gottingen, Germany is committed to maintaining genetic diversity of primates isolated in institutions; they maintain a Gene Bank of Primates for the exchange of genetic material. A census for all known animals in institutions (i.e. zoos, research centers) in Europe and North Africa, by species, can be found here.
