SUBMISSION:
Submission to the Women's Health & Urban Life Journal (WH & UL)
is a representation that the manuscript has not been published previously
and is not currently under consideration for publication elsewhere. A
statement transferring copyright from the authors to the WH & UL Journal
will be required before the manuscript can be accepted for publication.
Since the review process requires a lot of time and resources, we find
the simultaneous submission of the same manuscript to numerous journals
while it is under review at the WH & UL professionally unacceptable.
TITLE
PAGE:
For the peer review process, authors should include a separate title page
with their names and full university affiliations, addresses and e-mails,
but should make sure that no other identifying reference to themselves
occurs in the text. A short note not more than 50-100 words for each author
should also be included.
ABSTRACT:
An abstract not more than 100-150 words should appear on a separate page.
A list of key-words, and a suggested running-head for not more than 70
characters (including the spaces) should also be provided.
MANUSCRIPT
SPECIFICATIONS:
Manuscripts should be submitted in original typescript (minimum 12points),
double spaced, on standard typing paper (8 ½ by 11), with at least
one inch margins on four sides of the page. The maximum length of a manuscript
is 25 pages, including the abstract, tables, figures and references. We
urge the readers to closely observe the length requirement since longer
manuscripts will be excluded from the publication process.
TABLES
AND FIGURES:
All tables and figures must be prepared in a camera-ready form and should
appear on separate pages. Center the title above the table, and type explanatory
footnotes (indicated by superscript lower-case letters) below the table.
Tables are to be numbered with Roman numerals. Figures (illustrations,
photographs, drawings, diagrams, and charts) are to be numbered in one
consecutive series of Arabic numerals, and the title should appear below
the figure.
FOOTNOTES:
Footnotes should be avoided. When their use is absolutely necessary, footnotes
should be numbered consecutively using Arabic numerals. For the final
version, authors should NOT use the automatic foot/endnote commands of
their word-processors. The places of the footnotes in the text should
be clearly identified with a double pound sign and the appropriate number
(##1).
LANGUAGE,

REVIEW
PROCESS AND FINAL VERSION:
Articles will be peer reviewed and authors will be informed about the
reviewer's comments and will be asked to revise their manuscript. The
final decision of acceptance or non-acceptance belongs to the general
editor. In case of an acceptance for publication, author(s) are required
to revise and proof-read their manuscript and send a hard-copy as well
as an IBM compatible electronic disk to the editor. Label the disk with
identifying information: type of software, journal name, and first author's
last name. The disk must be the one from which the accompanying manuscript
(finalized version) was printed out. The Editor's Office cannot accept
a disk without its accompanying, matching hard?copy manuscript. In the
final version, no hidden software commands should be used (i.e., no footnote,
end-note commands, font changes and other hidden commands) except the
"underline" function. When papers are accepted for publication,
each author will be asked to sign an acceptance form assigning copyright
to the WH & UL Journal and subscribing to the journal for a year.
PROOFS:
Authors will be sent the proofs of their articles. At this point of the
publication process, only very minor changes and typographical corrections
are allowed.
